1. Who we are
CTCtruth is an independent project run by an individual. It isn't affiliated with any employer, payroll provider or tax authority. In this policy, “we” means the person who runs CTCtruth. It is written to meet India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

2. What stays on your device
The analyser runs entirely in your browser. When you add an offer letter (PDF, Word or pasted text), it's read by code running in your browser tab. The file and its contents are never sent to us or to anyone else. Phone numbers, email addresses and PAN are masked before any text is shown.
The quick calculators on the homepage and the For Candidates page work the same way: the CTC you type is worked out in your browser and isn't sent anywhere.
3. What we receive
The personal information we receive is what you send through the contact form: your name, email address, company if you add it, the topic you pick and your message. You provide it voluntarily, and we use it only to reply to you and, where your message is a correction or suggestion, to improve CTCtruth.
Please don't include your offer letter, salary details, PAN or phone number in a message. Describe the issue in general terms instead.
4. Anonymous usage counts
We keep daily totals of four things: how many times the calculator was used, the analyser was started, an offer letter was read, and a returning visitor arrived. We don't use cookies or store your IP address, and nothing identifies you, your offer or its figures. Totals are kept on our own hosting and never shared or sold.
Each count is a request to this site carrying only the name of the event, such as “calculator”. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted.
5. Offer links from recruiters
A recruiter can share an offer with you as a private link to the candidate offer portal. While you look at an offer opened from such a link, the portal records how it was used: that it was opened, roughly how long it was open, which tax regime you viewed, whether you used the simulator or looked at the perks, and whether you viewed or sent a counter-offer or accepted.
These events are stored on our hosting against the link's random code, not against your name. Anything that looks like a name, email, phone number, PAN or salary figure is refused, and at most 60 events are kept per link. The recruiter who shared the link can see them, so they know whether the offer was read and what you did with it. Your own calculations in the portal stay in your browser.

Like any web host, Netlify processes technical information such as IP addresses and browser details to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don't use this for analytics or tracking. These providers may store information on servers outside India.
There are no other third parties: no third-party analytics, advertising or social-media scripts, and fonts and libraries are served from this site. We don't sell or share your information.
8. How long we keep it
Messages aren't deleted automatically. We keep them until you ask us to delete them, or until we delete them ourselves. Offer-link events are kept while the link is in use. To have your messages or an offer link's events deleted, email contact@ctctruth.com.
9. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can ask us for a summary of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, withdraw your consent to us keeping it, and nominate someone to act for you. Email contact@ctctruth.com and we'll respond as soon as we can, and within the time the law requires.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
10. Children
CTCtruth is meant for people evaluating job offers and isn't directed at children. If you're under 18, please don't send us a message without a parent or guardian's involvement.
11. Security
The site is served over HTTPS with a strict content security policy that allows only its own scripts. Because offer letters never leave your device, there's no copy of them for us to lose. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep sensitive details out of messages. See the Security page for more.
12. Grievance contact
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal information, email contact@ctctruth.com with the subject “Grievance”. We'll acknowledge it and respond within the time the law requires.
13. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. The privacy section of the methodology page also explains how privacy works in the analyser.
