CTC to in-hand salary calculator
Enter a CTC to see the monthly in-hand pay it can mean. A CTC doesn't say how it's split, so this shows the range across four stated salary structures. Your offer letter's salary table says which one is yours.
In-hand for a ₹12 lakh CTC
Split as PF on full Basic
₹88,277 a month
₹10,59,323 a year, 88% of the CTC. After your PF, professional tax in Bengaluru and income tax for FY 2026-27, with no deductions claimed.
In-hand for a ₹12 lakh CTC split as PF on full Basic: ₹88,277 a month. Across the four structures, ₹73,277 to ₹96,200 a month.
₹73,277the same CTC, four ways to split it₹96,200
Each month
Fixed pay₹93,277
- Basic₹40,000
- HRA₹20,000
- Special allowance₹33,277
What the employer pays you each month before deductions. Special allowance is whatever the CTC has left after everything else.
Your PFminus ₹4,800
Your own contribution, 12% of your full Basic. It goes to your PF account: still yours, just not in your bank each month.
Professional taxminus ₹200
A state tax on employment. CTCtruth applies ₹2,400 a year for Bengaluru, the same at every salary; state rules vary.
Income tax₹0
None at this level, under the new regime, the cheaper of the two here with no deductions or rent claimed.
- In-hand₹88,277
Monthly figures are rounded to the rupee.
Not paid monthly₹80,677 a year
- Employer PF to your PF account₹57,600
- Gratuity a provision, generally payable when you leave after five years of service₹23,077
- Fixed pay ₹11,19,323 + these₹12,00,000 CTC
New or old tax regimeNew is cheaper
- New regime₹0 a year
- Old regime₹1,20,658 a year
Both with no deductions or rent claimed; the old regime counts your own PF under 80C. HRA, other 80C investments and other claims can make the old regime cheaper; the analyzer works it out with yours.

Why it's a range, not one number
The same CTC gives different in-hand pay depending on how it's split: how much is Basic, whether employer PF is worked out on the full Basic or capped, whether gratuity sits inside the CTC, and how much is variable pay. None of that is in the headline number. It's in the salary table of your offer letter.
The four structures
- Mostly fixed pay
- Basic is 40% of the CTC, PF (the employer's and yours) is capped at the statutory wage ceiling, gratuity isn't inside the CTC, and there's no variable pay.
- PF on full Basic
- Basic is 40% of the CTC, PF (the employer's and yours) is 12% of the full Basic, gratuity is inside the CTC, and there's no variable pay.
- Higher Basic
- Basic is 50% of the CTC, PF (the employer's and yours) is 12% of the full Basic, gratuity is inside the CTC, and there's no variable pay.
- With variable pay
- Basic is 40% of the CTC, PF (the employer's and yours) is 12% of the full Basic, gratuity is inside the CTC, and 15% of the CTC is variable pay, which isn't paid monthly.
In every structure, HRA is half of Basic and special allowance is whatever is left of the CTC.
What's counted
- In-hand is the pay that reaches your bank every month: fixed pay minus your PF contribution, professional tax and income tax.
- Income tax uses the FY 2026-27 rules and the cheaper of the new and old regimes, with no deductions, rent or HRA claimed (the old regime counts only your own PF under 80C). Claims like these can make the old regime cheaper; the full analyzer takes them into account.
- Not counted: variable pay, bonuses, joining bonuses and equity, which aren't paid monthly, and employer PF and gratuity, which don't reach your bank each month.
Tax rules: FY 2026-27, under the Income-tax Act, 2025, with Finance Act, 2026 rates. Last updated . Engine v2.6.0. Sources
Questions people ask
Is CTC the same as in-hand salary?
No. CTC is what the job costs the employer in a year. It can include employer PF, a gratuity provision, variable pay, a joining bonus and equity, none of which reach your bank each month. In-hand is fixed pay minus your PF, professional tax and income tax. A ₹12 LPA CTC divided by 12 is ₹1,00,000, but its in-hand comes to ₹73,277 – ₹96,200 a month across the four structures above.
Does CTC include PF?
It can. If the salary table lists the employer's contribution to PF, that amount is inside the CTC, and it goes to your PF account, not your bank. Your own PF contribution is then deducted from your pay as well, which is why PF shows up twice.
Is gratuity included in CTC?
Sometimes. When it is, CTCtruth works out the yearly provision as about 4.81% of Basic, unless the letter states a figure, and it isn't paid monthly: under the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972, gratuity generally becomes payable when you leave after five years of continuous service. The “Mostly fixed pay” row above has gratuity outside the CTC; the others have it inside. How to tell whether your CTC includes gratuity.
Why is my in-hand lower than I expected?
Usually for two reasons at once: parts of the CTC aren't monthly cash (employer PF, gratuity, variable pay), and the cash that is gets reduced by your PF, professional tax and income tax. The rows above show how much each structure keeps at your CTC.
Which tax regime does this use?
Whichever of the new and old regimes is cheaper for FY 2026-27, with no deductions claimed (in the old regime, only your own PF under 80C). If you'll claim HRA, 80C or other deductions, the old regime can come out cheaper; the analyzer compares both with your actual claims.
